You are part of the performance; act like it.
It doesn't matter how big or small it is--as big as an on-stage, in costume performance; or a small gathering of friends around a backyard fire pit. That means that you don't get to be part of the audience, nor a photographer or videographer.
Especially in today's world where every cell phone has a video camera, and in many cases low-light capable and high definition, each performance needs to be worthy of someone shooting video.
